Urban Lotus Project greens city spaces on two continents, and we filmed the transformations across Singapore and the United States.
Client: Urban Lotus Project · Industry: Urban greening & community landscaping · Year: 2026
Background
Urban Lotus Project works at the intersection of nature and the city, bringing greenery into urban environments through community-minded landscaping. Their projects turn overlooked plots and hard edges into planted, living spaces — work that is as much about people and place as it is about horticulture.
What sets this brief apart is its geography. Urban Lotus operates across both Singapore and the United States, two very different settings with different streetscapes, climates and audiences. Telling one coherent brand story across both markets — without flattening what makes each location distinct — was central to the work. As with transformation-led landscaping generally, film is the medium that does it justice.
Objectives
- Document urban greening transformations from bare site to planted space
- Tell a single brand story that travels across Singapore and the US
- Reflect the difference in setting between each market without losing consistency
- Capture the community and people-led side of the work, not just the plants

Scope & deliverables
- Site recces in both Singapore and US locations ahead of filming
- Videography covering the greening process at each site
- Before-and-after transformation films for both markets
- A shared footage library that keeps the brand consistent across regions
Our approach
Working across two countries meant building a filming approach that could flex. We recced each site first to understand its character — a dense Singapore corner reads very differently from an American streetscape — then shot to a shared visual language so the films would sit together as one body of work. The before-and-after structure stayed constant; the surroundings were allowed to speak for themselves.
We leaned into the human element. Beyond the planting itself, we captured the process and the community context that give Urban Lotus its meaning, so the films feel like neighbourhood stories rather than landscaping clips. The US edits carry a tone suited to that audience, while the Singapore films sit naturally in their own setting.
- Recce-first planning at each location to set up consistent before/after framing
- A shared visual language across markets — informed by how we approach brands operating across regions
- Process and documentary-style coverage of the community work
Final words
The films give Urban Lotus Project a way to show its impact on both sides of the world, with the same story told honestly in each place.
